Moving to the country?
I did! I left Toronto 8 years ago and had some big surprises. Now I consult with city folk planning to move to the country. Let me help you plan your transition - sharing my experience with you first hand. People often say to me "Wish I'd know about you when I first moved. Life here is a lot different than I thought." Like how much wood you need for winter! This is a good time to buy. The average baby boomer hits cottage buying time in the next 5 years for retreats, vacations and in preparation for retirement. There is already a major shortage of properties on water in Ontario. Prices will skyrocket. Call or e-mail me first to discuss your needs. It's free. Which community? Home or cottage etc.

  Consultations
My advice is generally applicable to country life, but specific to cottage country, Ontario: Parry Sound, Muskoka, Haliburton, Kawarthas, Algonquin. Consults cover how to choose your community and property; the real cost of living up north; dealing with culture shock and the hunt; problems with new technology; finding jobs, friends and doctors etc. Incomes drop a lot in the country, along with costs. What are the income and unemployment stats in your chosen community? You'll get realistic ideas to supplement income and resources to start your own home business, but can you get a private telephone line? If not, you can't have a fax, answering machine or internet for business.
